The New Hampshire primary was a nail-biter. As the results poured in it became abundantly clear that John McCain was back in the race. As the night wore on we all watched the democratic race - too close to call until. Late in the evening - they finally called it - NH wants Hillary.
So why did New Hampshire vote so differently from our expectations? Examining the nature of a New Hampshire voter's mind is important: as a woman from Milford, NH said in an NPR interview; "If you give New Hampshire a choice between A and B - we pick C. If you give New Hampshire A, B and C - we pick D"
The economy seemed to play a major role in voters' final decisions. Analyzing this further seemed to show that wealthy democrats preferred Obama while democrats who were having trouble making ends meet preferred clinton.
Analysts have also seen a shift in the women voters here. Clinton has women's support with a 10 point lead over Obama in New Hampshire - something she did not have in Iowa.
Lastly, it seemed both candidates spoke with a level of honesty to New Hampshire in those final days. That honesty seemed to go a long way in the minds of New Hampshire voters. In 2008 it looks like we have 2 more "Comeback Kid" contenders.
