A Post of Appreciation

I posted this the other day on a message board I came to love. In fact, it dashed my previous assumptions that message boards were only frequented anymore by passive aggressive TV show fans and Sci-Fi tech nerds... the TARDS (Toucher & Rich Diehard Superfans) have become so much more to me than message board friends with an Av and a Nickname... (probably because we've all actually met at T & R events...) Anyway, to those who hardly care but decided to read anywhere - here is the nicest post I've ever written on a message board:

Topic: The Addictive Nature of Toucher and Rich

Hi everyone,

I miss you too.

So I have been thinking about something and I just got the idea to tell the only people who would understand: the TARDS!

There are addictive patterns of behavior that ensue when you start listening; you make it routine, you get involved and (inevitably) you're on the board. Then you're posting and before you know it you're part of TARDNation. First you just wanna get your post rank up to be cool and bump post and stuff. Then, you wanna be there when it's buzzing. Then you stay for the after-party, and then the rest of life ...wait, what rest of your life?

There have been at least 3 distinct influxes of fans who've come through here, and I know they would agree with me. The board is so fun during the show. It's impossible to work come 3pm. Then your mentality becomes "I don't do work starting 3pm sharp.... then it's 2:30... when 2:30 becomes 12 noon - then you're at the point where you've def. had some moments of honesty with yourself and realized you're on your computer way too much and get kinda ashamed. But it's like 'whatever, this is my social life, and it rules!'

I noticed this too (and Rachel would agree with this); At Toucher and Rich events and gatherings I am capable of exceeding my drinking limit by 2 without trying. T & R is like coke at a party (ok settle, they're like the nights you drink redbull vodka without the red bull keeping you sharp). I just get flat out sloppy.

The last time I did this was one night at coolidge corner clubhouse with just Fred B-Real and Adolfo . Ok, so you think I could keep it low key, WRONG! I had one drink (they're strong at CCC) then Fred hands me a shot of jegger (can't spell) = ALL downhill from there - it was on a work night for my new job. I intended to get buzzed. I had a job I care about in the morning. Getting drunk was unintentional and that shocked me cause it was the first time I lost control of my drinking.

Getting drunk (for me) is an effort. I need to be excited to get over my laziness and concentrate on drinking stuff that tastes bad - and drink it til the point I can't taste it. That being said, if it is like that for me - I can only imagine what its like for people who like to drink.

Lastly; not being able to miss a second of airtime. This is something ReedB-WAKE and denko know about. In the very very beginning ithe regulars were hooked cause we wanted to win that roll of red sox scratch tickets or what the hell is adolfo doing. Especially because there were few enough of us that if you listened carefully you might win a LOT OF MONEY.

I like the marketing. Smart...

Had they sucked, it have worked. Clearly they don't. The most vehement haters call in and, in their argument, they unwittingly unveil that they, too, listen to every show...

To the TARDs who feen T & R on the weekends,

I love you all.

~ Nay

P.S. I still listen carefully. Crash, I'll call you later baby. Wink
